Getting started & setup

How long does setup take?+

Signing up takes two minutes; moving your menu across takes 10–30 minutes depending on its size. The Excel/CSV import brings hundreds of items over in one go, and 'Start with a sample menu' lets you try the system with a full menu immediately. The moment you print the QR codes and put them on the tables, you are live.

Do I need technical knowledge?+

No. The panel is built for anyone who can use a phone: adding dishes, changing prices and choosing a design are no harder than filling in a form. Wherever you get stuck, our WhatsApp support line is there.

Who moves my printed menu across?+

You can do it yourself in minutes with the CSV/Excel import; if you don't have a file, download the sample template, fill it in and upload it. On the Chain plan our team migrates the menu for you.

Do guests need to download an app?+

No. The menu opens in the browser — the moment the phone camera reads the QR code, the menu loads. No downloads, no sign-ups, no notification prompts.

Pricing & subscription

Is there a one-time purchase?+

No. Softellio Menu is a cloud service that is updated continuously: hosting, regulatory updates and new features are all included in the subscription. You pay annually and are charged for 10 months instead of 12.

Can I cancel whenever I want?+

Yes — with one click in the panel. The subscription renews at the end of each term, and after cancelling the service continues until that term ends.

Do you take a commission per order?+

No. There is no per-order cut on table orders or on takeaway; the only thing you pay is the fixed subscription.

Compliance

Is a QR menu legally required?+

Requirements vary by country. In general, price lists must be current and accessible to guests, and many jurisdictions also require calorie and allergen information. A QR menu meets these requirements on a single screen, and updates take effect instantly.

Do I have to add the required notices myself?+

No — the required information notice is embedded in the menu and cannot be removed by any theme, location or setting. Calorie and allergen fields are ready on every item.

What if I need to document price changes?+

Every price change is written to the price history automatically: old price, new price, date. If you are ever audited, the record is right there.

Do you collect customer data?+

The menu never asks a guest for a name, phone number or location. Analytics run on an anonymous session identifier. For takeaway, the name and address the customer types are used only to deliver that order.

Menu & design

Can I change the menu design myself?+

Yes — that is exactly what the Design Studio is for: brand colours, 30+ typefaces, four cover layouts, glass effect, dark mode and logo placement. You see every change in the live phone preview before you save.

Can I add video to the menu?+

Yes: a background video on the cover screen and a short video on individual dishes. Videos play muted on a loop, and images are compressed automatically.

How many languages do you support?+

More than 30 ready-made languages are added with one click. Missing translations fall back to your default language automatically, and the AI Assistant can fill the gaps in bulk.

Is there a limit on the number of items?+

There is no practical limit; menus with hundreds of items run smoothly. Category pages and search keep navigation fast even on large menus.

Ordering & operations

How does a table order reach the right table?+

Every table's QR code is bound to that table, so the order and the waiter call arrive in the panel already labelled with it. There is no manual table selection — and no mix-ups.

How does the kitchen see an order?+

Orders arrive in the panel in real time and the restaurant mobile app sends an instant notification. Statuses (received → preparing → served) are updated with one tap.

Can I switch ordering off and use it as a menu only?+

Yes. Ordering and waiter call can each be turned on or off; if you prefer, you can run it purely as a digital menu.

What happens if the internet goes down?+

The menu is hosted in the cloud, so even if your venue's connection drops, guests can still reach the menu over mobile data. The panel picks up where it left off once you are back online.

Technical & integration

Where is my data stored?+

Your data is stored on servers in the EU (Frankfurt) region; backups and encryption are standard.

Can I integrate it with my POS or website?+

Yes — a read-only API opens your menu to your own systems, and you receive a webhook notification whenever the menu changes. Keys are scoped by permission and rate limited.

If I rearrange tables, do I have to reprint the QR codes?+

No. QR codes point at a fixed redirect address; you change the destination in the panel and the printed code stays valid.

I have several locations — can I manage them from one account?+

Yes. On the Chain plan locations are managed from a single panel: per-location menu filters, exception pricing, separate WiFi and contact details, and a location picker. Any setting left blank inherits the general one.
